A Brief History of 1725
By Sgt Gidney N. and MCpl Epp H.
The 1725 Royal Canadian Engineer Cadet Corps was formed November 27, 1940, in Chilliwack British Columbia. Since then, we have had 13 different documented commanding officers. Throughout 1940 – 1974 with the exception of Capt Hank Norton in 1966 none of the Commanding Officers are known. 1725 was first a junior-senior high school cadet corps and was affiliated with Westminster Regiment corp. In 1960 the sponsorship was changed and the corps was again redesignated, this time as 1725 Royal Canadian Army Engineer Cadet Corps. Which is what the corps is known as until now. January 1, 1960, the corps was affiliated with Royal Canadian School military engineering. On May 19, 1982, our sponsor changed to our current sponsor: branch 280 of the Royal Canadian Legion.
